Audiobook ReviewOverall 4 starsPerformance 5 starsStory 3.5-4 starsReckless Miles was a great romcom! It had me laughing out loud plenty of times as playboy Cooper Miles finally finds love. The premise was a fun one, featuring jilted bride, Amelia, and an interesting meet cute. She was a great complement to Cooper and I loved that she "spoke Cooper". Her character grew through the course of the book and I appreciated that she took the time to determine what she wanted and not what fell in her lap or what others wanted for her. These two were really sweet and sexy together and though I'm not normally a fan of the virgin trope or instalove, this one worked pretty well. Committed boyfriend Cooper was a sight to see and I loved that he did it in a way that only Cooper could.Stephen Dexter and Desiree Ketchum were fantastic as Cooper and Amelia and I loved the cameo by John Lane as Ben. They all gave such emotional performances, but they also had perfect comedic timing. Stephen Dexter was especially amazing and showed his versatility voicing both male and female characters with ease.Fans of the series also get more updates on the other Miles family members as well as some drama thanks to papa Miles. There isn't a whole lot of angst in this one (a little OW drama and a brief push away) and I liked that the conflict was more internal. The time jump in the epilogue was a surprise, as was the POV of the bonus epilogue, but it only has me more excited to see what's next for Leo, Shannon, and Ben. This is book 3 in the Miles family series and can be read/listened to as a standalone, but it would be much more enjoyable if read in order. I have been waiting and waiting for Cooper’s story and it was all I hoped for and more! I didn’t think I could pick a favorite character in this series because the entire family is wonderful, but Cooper Miles is in a class all by himself and has always stood out to me. Yes, he’s a bit arrogant and full of himself, but he is also charming, smart, vulnerable and very thoughtful and kind. And when he loves, he loves fiercely–with all his being. He is the perfect kind of hero.When he meets Amelia, he is immediately intrigued as she is sitting next to him in a bar in a wedding dress. I loved her honesty and immediate trust in Cooper as she shared her heartbreak and humiliation. Cookie, as Cooper likes to call her, was so adorable when she became flustered and would rattle on and on...just like Cooper does when he tries to explain himself. These two were a perfect match from the beginning, and I laughed and cried with them as their story unfolded. They were totally in sync, and from day one, they supported and elevated each other. The whole “Coopermoon” was an example of that. I love how he built her confidence and how she was able to instinctively calm his restlessness.Cooper has such a great sense of humor and is always so witty, but he is a.so sensitive and you can also feel his pain when he is hurting. Claire does an excellent job of writing their every emotion so that the reader has nothing but empathy for each of the characters. I love how devoted Cooper is to his family, especially when meeting his new siblings and when he felt close enough to Ben to open up to him. There is also a secondary storyline about their father and his dirty dealings so there is more to this book than just a romance blossoming.I thought Amelia was so sweet and worthy of love. I admired her close relationship with her best friend, and that she took the time to internalize all that happened to her before she could truly commit to Cooper. I love that she was also smart and educated, and that even though she came from wealth, she was not a spoiled brat. She loved nature and horses, and it was when they spent time together doing simple things like going on a picnic that they got to know one another on a deeper level. You could feel their attraction and passion on every page and I routed for them to have a HEA, especially since her own parents were distant and cold.I was so pleased that the rest of the Miles family made regular appearances and that we learned what happened next to Roland, Zoe and their new baby (from Broken Miles), and Chase and Brynn (from Forbidden Miles). I was thrilled to learn that their brother, Leo, would be featured in book 4, Hidden Miles! I think the cover photos and titles in this series are amazing, and fit each lead character and storyline perfectly. Very clever Claire and kudos to your graphic artist! Each one of these tales is delicious! I do have some unanswered questions, and hope they are covered in one of the next two books. Great read but start from Book 1. You won't be sorry!
