If not for the fact that the author stole this story from someone irl, this would objectively be a good (ish) book.I wont be going into what happened, because if you really want to read this book nothing i have to say will stop you, but if one of you is considering spending money on this book (and the next one), i would recomend looking into this book and it's author a little bit closer.Because personally i would have liked a warning beforehand so that i could make an educated decision in whether or not to read it. because i did like it, i did. it's just the author that soured it.So in the end, as i see it, you have three options her:1.you go right ahead and read the books (and hopefully when you go looking into why book 3 never got published you get appalled at what you find and wish you had listened to little ol' me)2. you look into it, but decide to read it anyway (really, you are gonna invest and keep the circle going?)3. you look into it, and never return. (see, was it that difficult?) I absolutely loved and enjoyed this book so much! I really appreciate the fact that Santino doesn't write cookie cutter romance. His books deal with real emotions and personalities--whether or not they are pleasant or socially acceptable. I find his books very relatable for that reason. This book was such a great variety from his past work.Gavin Brawley is a player in the NFL who is under house arrest for 6 months after getting into a fight with a guy from a nightclub that was caught on video. Due to his house arrest he has to sit out the entire football season. He's very intense and grumpy. He's unapologetic for his actions, and he doesn't really care what people think of him. Football is the only thing he had to get him through growing up in foster care. He's never really known anyone who gave a crap about him, so he doesn't concern himself with caring about others. He ignores pretty much everyone possible, and just plays the game he loves. Since he's unable to leave his house he's forced to hire an assistant to handle his daily affairs. He's not happy about having a stranger in his space, but he doesn't really have a choice. When Noah Monroe shows up for the interview, he's begrudgingly intrigued by-and attracted to-him.Noah Monroe is drowning in student loan debt, and is now helping his father who has just been laid off after 20 years on the job. This personal assistant job is perfect because it's good pay and temporary. It will give him the time he needs to find a job in the field he wants. At first he butts heads with the stubborn NFL player. He's not afraid to call Gavin out on his BS though, and eventually the two fall into a routine of tolerating each other. But when Noah gets to know more about Gavin and see the man underneath all the gruff attitude, the toleration turns into friendship and enjoyment--with a sizzling attraction as well. Noah helps Gavin with his social media presence and helps turn his image around. He gets involved with charities and fan mail, and Noah helped him every step of the way. When Gavin finally understands what it's like to be cared about and valued, he's able to let the world see a softer side that no one knew was possible.This book was one of Santino's most sweet and romantic stories. I loved the connection between Gavin and Noah. Their journey of growth, understanding and love was beautiful. They brought out great qualities in each other. I really love the different types of books that Santino writes. They are very unique in my opinion. This was such a fantastic read. I'm greatly looking forward to Simeon's story!! An awesome start to a fun new series by Santino!
